    Update – 9th blog birthday gift – embroidered 14th century pouch…

    2014/04/23

Btw. do you remember the postings about the small embroidered 14th century pouch? …the small pouch I made for my 9th blog-birthday raffle which was inspired by an extant 14th century French pouch… Well, I am very glad to say that the pouch arrived save in the hands of its new owner – Jennifer in Dallas, Texas. …and she likes it! *happydance* I was so excited that I nearly forgot to tell you. 😀 All my projects are more then just projects therefore I tend to call them my “babies”. Every time I send one of my “babies” per mail on its way, the uncertainty if the package arrives or not is the most painful…

Posting about medieval embroidery for already 9 years ! Happy 9th birthday to me! :D

    2014/04/05

Happy birthday to me & my blog “Racaire’s Embroidery & Needlework”! 9 years filled with medieval embroidery! 😀 *gosch* …can you imagine it? I am already posting for 9 years about my embroidery and sewing projects. I think it is amazing – 9 long years filled with many medieval embroidery projects and medieval embroidery techniques like Klosterstich (cloister stitch), Refilsaum (Bayeux Stitch), German Brick Stitch, Surface Couching, Russian Pearl embroidery,… just to name a few. Btw. you can see a small part of my surface couching embroidery for my 12th century bliaut slit neckline on the right side. On the picture underneath you can see the final result of the first “Craft with…

I decided to rework two sections of an extant 14th century French pouch for it. You can see pictures of the other sections in my postings about my current commission which is based on the same extant 14th century French pouch: “14th century French pouch commission” The final result looks so nice that I wish I could keep…

positive review  Racaire makes wonderful things, she even takes on the Herculean task of dressing ME up pretty and makes it look easy. Anyone who has seen me at an event the past three or four years has seen her work. Not only is it beautifully made, it's durable enough to wear for heavy combat! Win-win!

I received my most recent order today and I just had to come on here to say that getting an order from this shop is second to none - it’s like Christmas every time. Racaire puts a ton of extra care into every order - each item is wrapped like a present, carefully folded, tied with ribbon, and includes care instructions. Getting to unwrap each item is such a joy. Beyond that, the work is spectacular, looks good, and wears well. You can wash and rewash and the prints look as good or better than they did on day one. I would give Racaire 10/10 stars every time.

positive review  I have followed Racaire's work for a decade. She is a true artist, and absolute magic with a needle! Her block printed fabrics are gobsmackingly gorgeous, with historically appropriate designs, and her embroidery and textile arts are without peer. Her historical research is spot on which is something this history geek truly appreciates. I recommend her work heartily! (and she's an awfully nice person to boot!)
