More about the rose embroidery for my friends hood .4 – a little pelican and the red silk embroidery around the middle…

    2016/11/07

It’s time again for some embroidery. The focus of todays posting will be on some red silk embroidery and a tiny embroidered pelican. I hope you are just as excited as I am. Today I am going to show you the technique which I used to embroider the red embellishment along the border of the middle part of the roses.  And that’s not all – I also have a sneak peek at the little, very cute pelican which I added to the middle of one of the roses. 😀

More about the rose embroidery for my friends hood .3 – my surface couching embroidery for the center of the roses…

    2016/10/27

It took some time but today I finally have my third part of my rose embroidery tutorial ready for you. Todays posting will show you how I used Surface Couching to embroider the central section of the roses for my friends 14th century hood. 😀 But before we get to the embroidery tutorial, I would like to write a little about the last days and weeks as they were quite a journey for me. As some of you might recall from my recent postings, I was taking one test after another to qualify for my GED diploma. And though all these tests drained me mentally, I am excited to tell that all the hard work and concentration finally…

My new black 12th century fillet with white silk embroidery! :D

    2016/10/16

Gloria, my dear mother-in-law, took a lovely selfie of us both at the most recent SCA event – Coronation. This cute selfie allows me to finally show you my most recent 12th century project “in use”: My new black 12th century fillet with white silk embroidery! 😀 How come? Well, after completing my new grey/black 12th century dress, I longed for a slightly different 12th century headgear than my ‘normal’ red silk fillet with pearl embroidery. And as the making of a new fillet does not take very long, I decided to simply make a fillet that matched at least one of the colors of my new dress…

    2016/10/03

Wow! What a week! During the last days I was struggling with fighting off a head cold as well as finally facing my driving test. As easy as embroidery and some other things might come to me, I really struggle a lot when it comes to taking any kind of tests. And the driving test, which took place yesterday, was definitely no difference. I was a complete wreck before, during and after the test and not even my dear husband was able to calm me down…

Meridian Grand Tournament – the Order of the Velvet Owl and other great things…

    2016/09/15

Seeing my scroll for the Armatura tournament go to a worthy and excited recipient was not my only highlight at the Meridian Grand Tournament this very last weekend. So many awesome and memorable things happened throughout the whole day. And being admitted into the Order of the Velvet Owl of my beloved home, the Kingdom of Meridies, was definitely the most amazing surprise for me on this day. Here a beautiful shot of this very special moment which I got to share with three other friends who were also admitted to the Order of the Velvet Owl: The picture above was taken by Becky Cullen. Becky, thank you very much for this lovely memory! …and if you would…

And finally a posting about what might interest you the most: A step-by-step tutorial of how I created the rose embroidery for my friends 14th century hood. Though the rose embroidery for my friends 14th century hood might appear quite simple at first sight, it is definitely much more complex than it looks like. Well, there is quite some work involved to make it appear so simple, proper and effortless.

14th century hood for a friend – 4th rose finished & already working at the 5th rose! :)

    2016/08/21

Woohooo! I just managed to finish another embroidered rose for my friends 14th century hood project. It took nearly a week and many tiny stitches but I made some really good progress during the last days. Ok, I admit it, I made most progress during my usual embroidery time at night. But well, I am – and always was – a night owl when it comes to working on my projects… *giggle* However, I guess that no one is more surprised about this great progress in such a rather short time than I am. Why? Well, my husband brought some organic pears home which a very nice coworker gave him. And I spent about two whole nights with…

    2016/08/12

I know, it’s about time for another update concerning the 14th century hood project with rose embroidery for my friend Elisenda. Well, what a great coincidence as I just managed to finish the third rose for her hood! …and not only that, I already started working on the fourth rose! 😀 Despite the small set-back due to the work on my arming coat and a knighting scroll for a friend, I never ceased to dedicate every spare minute to the embroidery for my friends 14th century hood project.

First sneak peek at a new embroidery project – a 14th century hood for a friend or roses, roses, roses,… :)

    2016/07/13

And todays posting is all about roses! …or to be more specific: embroidered roses! Well, you know me, I love me some good rose embroidery from time to time… 😉 After all my sewing related postings concerning my husbands new tunic, the time has finally come to show you some of my hand embroidery again! And as it happens, I just quite recently started a new embroidery project. Not only that, I already worked several hours on this project and therefore already have a nice sneak peek for you of: …a 14th century hood with roses (and maybe one or two pelicans) for my dear friend Elisenda de Luna! 😀

I finally finished my new 12th century “Saint Michael and the Dragon” banner!

    2016/05/14

In my previous posting “Working at my 12th century “Saint Michael and the Dragon”“ banner I already showed you the very first steps needed to turn my finished 12th century inspired “Saint Michael and the Dragon” into a small banner for my living room. My last posting included information about how I chose the fabric and where I found the inspiration for the final shape for my banner project. Furthermore I also wrote about how I attached the embroidery to the surface and how I prepared the final shape of the banner…

  • positive review  She was amazing to work with, flexible to my needs, answered all of my questions, and has been just incredible. Not only is she talented and interesting but is a genuinely kind person. I got a new bag with my heraldry, for which I have received many compliments, and block stamps for my household. I will commission from her again.

I’ve admired Racaire’s work for months and recently had a chance to purchase one of her scarves. So delighted with my purchase! The phoenix print on the scarf is so crisp and such a lovely, unique design. The fabric is soft and just the right color to complement the design. Shipping was swift, communication was excellent, and I just really enjoy wearing something that has so much creativity poured into it. I look forward to shopping from Racaire’s Workshop again!

Ordered one item and had questions about a second item. Racaire was quick to contact me and and send pics with measurements. I ended up getting both items. They were shipped that day and arrived insanely fast for being across the country. Note: Items I selected were in stock. Racaire is very friendly and strives to know a little about each client/customer it seems. TLDR: Item quality/description: 10/10 Shipping speed/costs: 10/10 Customer service/satisfaction: 10/10
