    2014/03/27

Wooohoooo! Countdown! -9 days! Well, I am glad that I have still 8 days + 1 evening to finish the embroidery for the embroidered 14th century pouch for the 9th blog-birthday! I still think that I will finish the pouch in time but it would surely help if you cross your fingers for me… 🙂 As you already might have noticed, I posted yesterday about the most basic medieval hand sewing technique “Running Stitch” and all the possibilities to use it for hand sewing, pattern fitting and also its use concerning medieval hand embroidery techniques. Therefore you get to see two progress pictures of my embroidery progress today. Enjoy! 😀

Craft with Racaire – Project #2 – Step 1.1 – Hand sewing stitches: Running Stitch & more thoughts about hand sewing

    2014/03/26

In my opinion it is important to know the basics to be good in something. To know the basics enables creativity and the ability to create lovely things. Even if the focus is on medieval hand embroidery, it doesn’t hurt to look into the basics of hand sewing if you don’t want to spend the rest of your life creating wallhangings… but well, even for that you would need some basic hand sewing techniques if you don’t want a wallhanging with untreated edges… 😉 But let me share a nice little secret with you – the stitches for hand sewing are rather easy and can be found in the same…

Personal thoughts about hand-sewing and hand-embroidery…

    2014/03/25

After my recent posting with which I started my new “fast and easy pouch tutorial (handsewn)“- I started working at the first step for the second  “Craft with Racaire” project. Thinking about the new project, about hand-sewing and hand-embroidery, I remembered the problems some people have when it comes to hand-sewing and/or hand-embroidery or when they are just thinking about trying it. I know that for many people just the thought of doing some hand-sewing or hand-embroidery is already scary and intimidating. In my opinionthis feeling is absolutely natural and I can tell from my experience that it is not limited to hand-sewing. It seems that especially newcomers seem to suffer from it.…

Wooohoooo! Countdown! -11 days! Just 11 days left till the 9th blog birthday and my very first raffle for my blog-members! …or, well, lets put it another way: I have still 10 days + 1 evening to finish the embroidery for the embroidered 14th century pouch for the 9th blog-birthday! *grin* However, if you compare the picture underneath to yesterdays progress, I am on a good way to finish the pouch in time. See for yourself:  Cute, isn’t it… too bad I can’t keep if for myself when it is finished… 😉

Working at an embroidered 14th century pouch for the 9th blog-birthday raffle… :D

    2014/03/24

Wow!!! The 9th birthday of my blog is coming up soon! I am so excited! …and I I already started working at an embroidered 14th century pouch for the very first “birthday raffle”… *happydance* I thought I have still more than a month till the 9th birthday of my blog. Then I checked the date and realized that I have less then 3 weeks left… omg… *panic-mode-on*… 😉 Why I panic? Because I wanted to make the next birthday – the 9th birthday of my blog – a very special one by celebrating it with a gift and a raffle for my blog members. Well, I have to admit that…

    14th century French Pouch .1 – sneak peek progress .16 – Endspurt! :)

    2014/03/22

…and the first outlines for my 14th century French pouch – enjoy! 😀 Though I don’t know yet with which color(s) my customer would like to see the hood filled and the figures outlined, I took the freedom to already start with some of the “not-so-important” outlines. In my opinion this “not-so-important” section is the small yellow section between the red and green sections and looks like a very slim cross. For this section in the middle I decided to use my white wool-silk thread for the outlines. The white thread nicely accentuates the section but does not distract from the embroidery as you can see on the following picture. I decided to…

    14th century French Pouch .1 – sneak peek progress .15 – Endspurt! :)

    2014/03/20

End-spurt! 😀 …I am very happy to say that I nearly finished the basic embroidery for my 14th century French pouch. Just a rather small section is still not embroidered but I hope to get the information I need to complete it soon. Nevertheless, I enjoy this moment very much and would like to celebrate it with you by sharing some progress pictures – enjoy! 😀   As you can see, the embroidery for the hood for the upper right section is still missing. Concerning this section and also concerning the outlines for the figures I am waiting for the decision of my customer concerning his preferred colors. Btw. this…

positive review  She was amazing to work with, flexible to my needs, answered all of my questions, and has been just incredible. Not only is she talented and interesting but is a genuinely kind person. I got a new bag with my heraldry, for which I have received many compliments, and block stamps for my household. • positive review  I'm blown away by the block printing on the scarf I received. The colors are vibrant, the fabric is soft, and the pattern matching is perfection. Racaire was quick to respond, and updated me along the way. My scarf was packaged beautifully, and I felt like I was opening a present. 100% will order again. ❤
