A patch with gold embroidery for Catelin’s elevation dress

    2016/04/14

Now, that the elevation of my friend Catelin The Wanderer is over, I can finally share the small gold embroidery with you which I made for her elevation dress. It is always a great pleasure and honor for me to contribute to the special days of my friends. Therefore I was very happy when Catelin asked for some embroidered patches for her dress for her upcoming Laurel elevation.

12th century belt for my 12th century wedding dress – pearl embroidery .4

    2016/03/24

And today – last but not least – I will show you the final progress pictures of the pearl embroidery for my 12th century belt project! 🙂 Even though I was tremendously looking forward to finishing this quite important embellishment step for my project, I couldn’t help the feeling of a certain amount of sadness as soon as I attached the last pearls to the surface of my new 12th century belt.

12th century belt for my 12th century wedding dress – pearl embroidery .3

    2016/03/08

During the last weeks I was busy preparing for Gulf Wars and actually wanted to work on my “leg armor” for SCA “Heavy Fighting” today. Given the amount of layers and the thickness of the material I decided to do the sewing with the help of my sewing machine. But, well, after several hours facing a never ending fight with my sewing machine, I think I finally have to face the sad truth. My sewing machine really hates me and doesn’t want to cooperate with me at all. *sigh* But life is too precious to end the day feeling frustrated and defeated. Therefore I finally decided to stop fighting my sewing machine…

12th century belt for my 12th century wedding dress – pearl embroidery .2

    2016/02/27

Last time I already added a good amount of pearls to my new 12th century belt but I was far from being done with my pearl embroidery at this point. The bezants with the additional pearl embroidery look really great but I had the feeling like I could add a little bit more and do better…

    2016/02/20

And today let’s talk about one of my other favorite topics besides Klosterstich and surface couching – pearl embroidery! 😀 Well, pearls per se were and still are something very special. Their availability is quite limited and their price is rather high due to the natural production process. Besides the beautiful appearance and shine pearls possess naturally, their rather restricted availability as well as their quite high monetary value might have added to their great appeal in the medieval age. I think that the usage of pearls for jewelry or pearl embroidery used to reflected the wealth of the person who could actually afford to use them in either high quality (large, round and with a perfect surface appearance)…

More about Klosterstich… my Klosterstich wall hanging project documentation :)

    2016/01/27

Today I have good news for the fans of my Klosterstich wall hanging – I finally found the time to prepare my Klosterstich wall hanging project documentation and to upload it to the blog! 🙂 Well, it is said that when one door closes, another one opens. And though I am still not able to prepare photos on my beloved Acer Iconia tablet due to a broken charger and the waiting time until my new one arrives, I still have plenty to post about for which I don’t need my tablet. I simply needed to reconsider what I can post about without using my tablet.

My husbands christmas gift – a grey light-wool 12th century tunic – how to imitate a woven band for bottom embellishment… :)

    2016/01/21

Yes, you read it right, todays posting is about “how to imitate a woven band for bottom embellishment” (of a tunic). 🙂 I guess that many of you never expected that I would say this one time, but sometimes special projects will come along for which a very simple embroidered embellishment can actually be the best choice. Especially when you decide to decorate a garment without taking the focus off of the main “star” – which in this case happens to be the tablet woven band I used for the neckline and the cuffs. But before we take a closer look at my take on “how to imitate a woven band” with embroidery, I would like…

My husbands 13th century under tunic – more about the “shell” embroidery .1

    2015/11/28

And today we are taking a look at the very last pictures of the embroidery for my husbands 13th century under tunic project. I will show you how I created the shell embroidery for my husbands “Order of Compostella”/”Pilgrims Order Award. After I promised my husband to incorporate all of his SCA awards in the embellishment along the cuffs of his tunic, I waited with the shells until after I finished all the other awards first. Well, at first I wasn’t quite sure how I should realize the pattern with the quite thick “gold thread” which I used for the rest of the embellishment but then I had a striking idea…

My husbands 13th century under tunic – more about the embroidery

    2015/11/27

And today I have some more pictures of my embroidery for my husbands 13th century under tunic project. During the last days I was quite busy entertaining a rather bad head cold but today it finally started to clear up again and I am already feeling much better. I can’t tell you what a pleasure it is to be able to think more clearly again and not to sneeze and cough all the time. 🙂 Because of my cold I was not able to take the promised pictures of me wearing my new “Meridian cross cyclas” or some nice close ups of the embroidery but I will try to take this pictures as…

I’ve admired Racaire’s work for months and recently had a chance to purchase one of her scarves. So delighted with my purchase! The phoenix print on the scarf is so crisp and such a lovely, unique design. The fabric is soft and just the right color to complement the design. Shipping was swift, communication was excellent, and I just really enjoy wearing something that has so much creativity poured into it. I look forward to shopping from Racaire’s Workshop again!

  • positive review  She was amazing to work with, flexible to my needs, answered all of my questions, and has been just incredible. Not only is she talented and interesting but is a genuinely kind person. I got a new bag with my heraldry, for which I have received many compliments, and block stamps for my household. I will commission from her again.

positive review  She’s a very talented artist and sews beautifully! My custom bag was hand stamped with her own cut stamps in beautiful Gold paint, and the design looked perfect on the bag. If you need a bag for a purse or knapsack, and with any design you can think of, purchase it from this wonderful lady! ***** (5 stars)
