12th century dress for the “12th century wedding clothing project” – sneak peek .7 – working at the keyhole neckline

    2015/06/12

After finishing the lid for my reliquary box, I decided to complete at least one more work step of my 12th century wedding dress keyhole neckline. And I was successful – the sewing part of my keyhole neckline is finished by now and won’t bother me anymore. I just need to add some further embellishments as well as a special finishing step to reinforce the bottom point of the neckline slit… *sigh* …so many projects and just so little time – I guess that sounds familiar to many of you, doesn’t it… 🙂

14th century inspired Klosterstich rose embroidery – now a lid for a reliquary box!

    2015/06/08

It took a little but I finally managed to turn my 14th century inspired Klosterstich rose embroidery into a cute lid for a reliquary box. 🙂 Well, not that the rest of the box is finished yet but I consider a lid a very good beginning. At the moment I am anyway not quite sure if I want to create an embroidery for the sides of the box too. A plain silk cover for the side part seems like a very appealing idea at the moment. But… Well, you know me…

14th century inspired Klosterstich rose – turning a medieval inspired embroidery into a lid for a reliquary box .3 – working at the border embellishment

    2015/06/08

And today I will show you how I added the border embellishment to the lid of my reliquary box with the 14th century inspired Klosterstich embroidery. 🙂 So far we had several postings showing the progress of the 14th century inspired Klosterstich rose embroidery, one posting about how I mounted the Klosterstich embroidery on the base for the reliquary lid and also one posting of how I added the silk to the backside of the lid…

14th century inspired Klosterstich rose – turning a medieval inspired embroidery into a lid for a reliquary box .2

    2015/05/27

In my last posting “14th century inspired Klosterstich rose – turning a medieval inspired embroidery into a lid for a reliquary box .1” I showed you how I mounted my Klosterstich embroidery on the top side of the lid for my most recent reliquary box project. But mounting the embroidery on top of the lid is just half of the work. A proper looking top also always needs a nice backside. Therefore I am going to take it one step further today and show you how I applied the silk fabric to the backside of the lid. 🙂

12th century dress for the “12th century wedding clothing project” – sneak peek .6 – working at the keyhole neckline

    2015/05/13

And again new news and progress pictures concerning my 12th century wedding clothing project! During the last two days I picked up my 12th century wedding dress again and continued the hand sewing of my keyhole neckline. 😀 The hand sewing part of the keyhole neckline seems to be the most difficult step of this dress project – at least for me. While working at a keyhole neckline I always tend to worry that I might mess up the keyhole neckline somehow – despite all the previous keyhole necklines I successfully completed during the last years. But I guess it is what it is – everyone of us has to fight this battles from time to time…

Surface couching embroidery – how I made the 12th century Agincourt Heart for Bella’s elevation garment

    2015/05/06

I will be very busy and away from my computer for the next days, therefore I thought that you might enjoy some of the progress pictures which I took while I was working at the 12th century Agincourt heart for Bella’s elevation garment. As some of you might have already noticed, I am very keen on medieval and especially 12th century surface couching embroidery. And today’s progress pictures will give you a nice glimpse at the “2:1 surface couching” embroidery technique which I used for Bella’s 12th century Agincourt heart.

In my last posting “14th century French Pouch .1 – sneak peek progress .23 – sewing the pouch together .1” you could see a good part of the progress pictures concerning the last finishing steps for my 14th century French pouch project. And as I promised in my last posting, I am going to show you even more pictures today – the very last progress pictures I took of the finishing process.

Maybe some of you remember my 14th century French pouch commission. And I have great news concerning this project – I managed to finish the pouch and it was delivered in time to surprise a beautiful lady on Valentines day. And during the recent down time of my blog I found some time to sit down and go through the pictures on my tablet…

12th century dress for the “12th century wedding clothing project” – sneak peek .5 – working at the keyhole neckline

    2015/04/10

During the last days I found again some spare time to work at the lovely golden keyhole neckline of my dark blue 12th century wedding dress. And I am very glad to say that I made some good progress. But there is still a lot to do before the hand-sewing part of the keyhole neckline is finished.

12th century dress for the “12th century wedding clothing project” – sneak peek .4 – working at the keyhole neckline

    2015/03/20

During the last days my body demanded some rest and pain killers but somehow I still  managed to make a nice progress concerning the keyhole neckline of my 12th century dress. 🙂 Fortunately the change of seasons doesn’t really affect me unless it is a major weather change. I only have to endure some food allergies, occasionally head aches/migraines and the monthly female burden so many of us have to deal with. And though the pain killers manage to calm down most of my pain and get me through the day, they make me unable to think and focus properly on more then just very basic tasks and projects.

I’ve admired Racaire’s work for months and recently had a chance to purchase one of her scarves. So delighted with my purchase! The phoenix print on the scarf is so crisp and such a lovely, unique design. The fabric is soft and just the right color to complement the design. Shipping was swift, communication was excellent, and I just really enjoy wearing something that has so much creativity poured into it. I look forward to shopping from Racaire’s Workshop again!
