14th century inspired Klosterstich rose embroidery – now a lid for a reliquary box!

    2015/06/08

It took a little but I finally managed to turn my 14th century inspired Klosterstich rose embroidery into a cute lid for a reliquary box. 🙂 Well, not that the rest of the box is finished yet but I consider a lid a very good beginning. At the moment I am anyway not quite sure if I want to create an embroidery for the sides of the box too. A plain silk cover for the side part seems like a very appealing idea at the moment. But… Well, you know me…

14th century inspired Klosterstich rose – turning a medieval inspired embroidery into a lid for a reliquary box .3 – working at the border embellishment

    2015/06/08

And today I will show you how I added the border embellishment to the lid of my reliquary box with the 14th century inspired Klosterstich embroidery. 🙂 So far we had several postings showing the progress of the 14th century inspired Klosterstich rose embroidery, one posting about how I mounted the Klosterstich embroidery on the base for the reliquary lid and also one posting of how I added the silk to the backside of the lid…

14th century inspired Klosterstich rose – turning a medieval inspired embroidery into a lid for a reliquary box .2

    2015/05/27

In my last posting “14th century inspired Klosterstich rose – turning a medieval inspired embroidery into a lid for a reliquary box .1” I showed you how I mounted my Klosterstich embroidery on the top side of the lid for my most recent reliquary box project. But mounting the embroidery on top of the lid is just half of the work. A proper looking top also always needs a nice backside. Therefore I am going to take it one step further today and show you how I applied the silk fabric to the backside of the lid. 🙂

I already prepared my rolling frame for a new medieval inspired embroidery project. But before I tell you more about my new project, I would like to show you the small side project at which I was working during the last days… 🙂 You might remember the 14th century inspired Klosterstich rose embroidery which I  recently finished. I started this small project in order to take pictures for my “Klosterstich hands on tutorial” which you can find here: – “…Part 1 – how to start your Klosterstich embroidery“ – “…Part 2 – how I do my Klosterstich embroidery”

14th century inspired Klosterstich rose embroidery finished :)

    2015/03/11

And finally I found the time to finish the 14th century inspired Klosterstich rose embroidery which I started last year. Yes, I admit it, I neglected this small project a little and worked on several other more urgent projects in the meantime. But after my husbands heart attack last week, I really needed a nice embroidery project to ease my mind. I think everyone of us has something special that can provide a certain peace of mind. In some cases it is chocolate, some prefer to snack on nuts or have a nice glass of beer or wine, others start cleaning their home,… and well, I prefer to work at my embroidery projects. Well, not…

    2014/11/29

Again I have a new sneak peek picture of the most recent progress of my medieval rose worked in the Klosterstich embroidery technique for you. 🙂 It was not an easy process but I finally decided on a color for the border surrounding my medieval rose and started working at it. After several additional hours of Klosterstich embroidery during the last days, this section is also finished now. It is really great to see that all sections are now filled with Klosterstich embroidery. 😀

And again I have a new sneak peek picture of the most recent progress of my medieval rose worked in the Klosterstich embroidery technique for you. 🙂 I just managed to fill the rest of the blue background section with Klosterstich embroidery. For the next step I need to decide which color I want to use for the surrounding “frame” section and then fill this last remaining big section with it.

    2014/10/23

And during the last days I have not only created some wire jewelry, I was also working at my new Klosterstich embroidery, which I recently started. After all the pictures of wire, beads and several “trees of life“, I thought you might enjoy to see some embroidery pictures again. Therefore I have a new sneak peek picture of the most recent progress of my medieval rose worked in the Klosterstich embroidery technique for you. 🙂 And because I know that some of you find it helpful to see a close up photo of the surface of my embroidery as well as a photo of its backside, I also took several detail photos for you…

And another sneak peek at my most recent embroidery for you. 😀 During the last evenings I also found some time to work at my Klosterstich embroidery. I managed to fill all of the outer petal sections of my 14th century inspired rose pattern with Klosterstich embroidery. Now I just need to fill the background with even more embroidery. Anyway, I think it already looks very lovely and I just decided what I will use it for… 🙂

Today I have another sneak peek at my most recent Klosterstich embroidery for you. 😀 After all the Meridian Grand Tournament event photos, the video of Hrothgar’s knighting ceremony and before I post pictures of the Knighting scroll and my two pages for Hrothgar’s vigil book you really deserve some new pictures of my most recent embroidery progress… 😀

  • positive review  Racaire's work is thoughtful, beautiful, historic and absolutely well made! There is care and pride in everything that comes out of her workshop, a craftmanship that you just don't get from mainstream markets! I have several items done by her hand and I am continually asked about them and who made them. Racaire's quality and artistic beauty shines through everytime.

I received my most recent order today and I just had to come on here to say that getting an order from this shop is second to none - it’s like Christmas every time. Racaire puts a ton of extra care into every order - each item is wrapped like a present, carefully folded, tied with ribbon, and includes care instructions. Getting to unwrap each item is such a joy. Beyond that, the work is spectacular, looks good, and wears well. You can wash and rewash and the prints look as good or better than they did on day one. I would give Racaire 10/10 stars every time.

Have purchased two items so far from Racaire. Both items are high quality, superb communication from Racaire with design, what was needed fabric wise and pricing. Everything was straight up and done to my exact specifications. She does beautiful work, extremely well made and is truly an artist above the rest. Purchase with confidence and rest assured that what you get will definitely bring the oohs and ahhhs.
