Last but not least I have the pleasure to present to you my scroll for the winner of the Armatura tournament! Wow! The last weekend was truly amazing! My husband and I travelled to Tennessee – to the Meridian Grand Tournament – and brought a rather special package to the event. It was a scroll for the winner of the Armatura tournament sponsored by the “Order of the Legio Ursi” / “Legion of the Bear”. I already mentioned in my previous postings that I was working on a very special scroll and here it is: The viking knighting scroll for Kaðall Viðarsson. …and yes, before you ask, it is indeed a painted woodcut. Though the term “scroll” might actually not really apply here, it served all purposes of a scroll at a recent SCA event. Therefore I am quite inclined to keep on using the term “scroll”. Well, this was definitely a first for me. Never before did I go home after an SCA event with more scroll blanks than I had before… *lol* But first things first. Mistress Mara Palmer, who is doing an awesome job coordinating the scrolls supplied by the local scribes with the scroll demand of the current Royal Majesties, had several blanks with lovely artwork in her case. Scriptorium – another Grant of Arms… :)

Wooohoooo! Another one of my SCA scrolls – a “Grant of Arms” – was recently given out in court! …and I would love to send out a hearty congratulation to its recipient: Engelbrecht Wandelber! It was a true honor for me to create your scroll! 😀 Well, as you might already know, I normally create a lot of SCA scroll blanks in order to practice my Batarde hand as well as for my own, personal pleasure. But from time to time I also get a scroll commission for a personalized scroll. I really love this scroll commissions as creating a very special scroll for a very special person is always a great fun for me.

Finally, after sooooo many days, my new computer arrived today and I am able again to work at new postings for my blog. If you already wondered why I was so silent recently, well, during the last weeks I was very busy hand-sewing and embroidering the christmas present for my sweetheart. After all the embroidery for the 14th century hood for my friends Pelican elevation, I had the feeling like I needed a short break from needle and thread. Therefore I decided to practice my Batarde hand again and to make some new scrolls for my new Kingdom – the Kingdom of Meridies. In order to “warm up” my hand again after such a long time, I made several quite basic scrolls. My PCS scroll from Drachenwald arrived! :D

Today a great surprise arrived me via mail – my PCS scroll from Drachenwald is here! And though a good part of the envelope didn’t survive the long way from Europe to its final destination here in Kentucky/USA, the scroll was fortunately packed very well. Therefore I am very happy to say that my beautiful PCS scroll reached me unharmed and unbend. At this point I would like to express my sincere gratitude to King Makarius and his lovely Queen Izabella – Their Royal Majesties of the Kingdom of Drachenwald – for bestowing this “Popular Company of Sojourners” award upon me.
