14th century French Pouch .1 – sneak peek progress .22 – the silk for the back side :)

Racaire 2013

I tell you, one of the best feelings I know, is the feeling when I just finished another embroidery. 😀

There is still some finishing work left but that doesn’t really count as embroidery for me. Anyway, I really love and always enjoy this “Endspurt” time. *grins*

…and writing about finishing work – today I found the perfect silk for the back side of the pouch.

…but take a look yourself at the sneak peek photo of the fabric and the embroidery – this color is lovely, isn’t it… 😀

For this silk fabric I visited the fabric shop “Komolka” at the Mariahilfer Straße here in Vienna. They have a nice selection of silk fabric in different colors.

My customer wished for a nice deep and a little bit darker honey-colored yellow. To be able to find the perfect color I decided to take the embroidery out of its frame and to take it with me to the store. I have to say that this was really a very wise decision because they had several colors in this color spectrum.

It still amazes me how much difference a small nuance of more red, pink, blue,… can make. Unfortunately not all this differing nuances were in favor for the overall appearance of the embroidery but I tried my best to find the “best” nuance to support the embroidery on the other side of the pouch. I am very happy to tell that I finally found the perfect color for the back side of the 14th century French Pouch.

Btw. as you can see on the picture above, I also got a nice 100% silk sewing thread in a matching color for the finishing work. The silk thread – Seide S 303 – is from the company “Gütermann”.

Best regards Racaire
