Update – 9th blog birthday gift – embroidered 14th century pouch…

Update - 9th blog birthday gift – embroidered 14th century pouch...

Btw. do you remember the postings about the small embroidered 14th century pouch?

…the small pouch I made for my 9th blog-birthday raffle which was inspired by an extant 14th century French pouch…

Well, I am very glad to say that the pouch arrived save in the hands of its new owner – Jennifer in Dallas, Texas.

…and she likes it! *happydance* I was so excited that I nearly forgot to tell you. 😀

All my projects are more then just projects therefore I tend to call them my “babies”. Every time I send one of my “babies” per mail on its way, the uncertainty if the package arrives or not is the most painful part of the waiting process. Therefore many thanks to Jennifer for letting me know immediately.

I still hope that the nailbinded 12th century cap which I sent to my sister Bella didn’t get lost – it’s overdue for a rather long time now… *sigh* Please keep your fingers crossed that it will arrive soon. 🙂

Best regards Racaire

I am soooooo excited! I am sure that Jennifer will give the pouch (and the embroidery scissors) a good new home.
…and now I am off to write her an eMail to tell her that she won the pouch… 😀

Best regards Racaire

Posting about medieval embroidery for already 9 years ! Happy 9th birthday to me! :D

Happy birthday to me &
my blog “Racaire’s Embroidery & Needlework”!
9 years filled with medieval embroidery! 😀

Posting about medieval embroidery for already 9 years ! Happy 9th birthday to me! :D

*gosch* …can you imagine it? I am already posting for 9 years about my embroidery and sewing projects.

12th century slit neckline with surface couching - Racaire's medieval embroidery

I think it is amazing – 9 long years filled with many medieval embroidery projects and medieval embroidery techniques like Klosterstich (cloister stitch), Refilsaum (Bayeux Stitch), German Brick Stitch, Surface Couching, Russian Pearl embroidery,… just to name a few.

Btw. you can see a small part of my surface couching embroidery for my 12th century bliaut slit neckline on the right side. On the picture underneath you can see the final result of the first “Craft with Racaire” project – a needle-roll worked in German Brick Stitch.

Craft with Racaire - German Brick Stitch - needle-roll - Project #1 - medieval embroidery…and yes, I think I am going to add many more years filled with medieval embroidery and medieval embroidery projects in the future. During the last years I found a lot of inspiration for medieval embroidery in books, on museum websites and on display in museums. All this inspiration will keep me busy for at least several years.

I am very looking forward to keep on sharing my love and joy for medieval embroidery also in the future. I will keep on posting new progress pictures of my work and embroidery as often as possible. And I am glad to say that even more project and technique tutorials as well as many in-depth postings about special techniques are planned for the future… 😀

Racaire - Klosterstich - medieval embroidery

…and as you might have noticed, I recently added one more “new” medieval embroidery technique to my medieval embroidery repertoire. 😀

Speaking about this “new” medieval embroidery technique – the pouch on the picture on the top is worked in this technique and will be raffled off between my members this evening…

Best regards Racaire

Embroidered 14th century pouch for tomorrows 9th blog-birthday raffle finished!!! :D

Racaire's embroidered 14th century pouch for the 9th blog-birthday raffle :D

I just managed to finish the embroidered 14th century pouch! …and there is still one day left until the raffle! *happydance*

This “petite” pouch is inspired by an actual 14th century pouch from France. I decided to rework two sections of an extant 14th century French pouch for it. You can see pictures of the other sections in my postings about my current commission which is based on the same extant 14th century French pouch: “14th century French pouch commission”

The final result looks so nice that I wish I could keep it for myself – but no, I will raffle it off tomorrow betwixt my members.

Embroidered 14th century pouch for tomorrows 9th blog-birthday raffle finished!!! :D

…and I will not only raffle off this pouch, I also added one of my embroidery scissors from my “personal fancy scissors collection”. You can see it at the picture above.
This is one of the scissors I got as a birthday present from Frank from the shop www.scherenkauf.de. I have to say that I really love the scissors which he gave me 2011. I use mine nearly every day since I got them and they still work like at the very first day. 🙂

Btw. one of my personal and favorite scissors, which I use very often is this one:

Mundial 3-1/2-Inch Classic Forged Stork Embroidery Scissors, Gold Plated Finish
(unfortunately I can’t tell you if this are the same scissors I use but they look very close to what I use and have a really good rating)

Stickschere / Storchenschere

…and finally some pictures of the finished pouch for you – Enjoy! 😀
