More German Brick Stitch embroidery – Needle Roll 2 & 3 finished :D

    2014/04/27

You maybe remember my first “Craft with Racaire” project #1. The needle roll tutorial with German Brick Stitch embroidery which I recently posted. I was very pleased with my new German Brick Stitch pattern and the finished embroidery for the first needle roll. Furthermore I also tremendously enjoyed working with the beautiful new silk/wool thread I just got from the yarn shop. Like always, this are more then enough great reasons for me to became playful and creative. This time I decided to play around with my German Brick Stitch pattern #2 and to try out two new pattern ideas I had on my mind. The German Brick Stitch pattern #2 is already a simplified version of my German Brick Stitch pattern #1 and both new…

    Craft with Racaire – Project #1 – Step 5.3 – finishing – fast and easy tassels… :)

    2014/03/01

This posting is about: “how to make fast and easy tassels…” …at the end of a cord. Yes, there is a very fast and rather easy way to make this cute small tassels which you can see at the picture underneath: …and here a description of what you need and how you can make them:

    Craft with Racaire – Project #1 – Step 5.2 – finishing – the cords for the fastening/closing :)

    2014/02/28

Well, you can do everything you wish with your threads – this here is just a suggestion for a very fast and easy technique how you can make two fast strings for the fastening/closing. Count your threads – you have 2 colors on each side with 2 threads for each color – the most easy and fast braiding needs 3 threads. That means, if you count every color as just one string (if you want to keep the sides balanced and the threads homogeneous instead of braiding with 1-1-2 strings) then you need one pair extra on every side. For this purpose you need to see how long the threads…

Craft with Racaire – Project #1 – Step 5.1 – finishing – last work at the padding :)

    2014/02/28

You maybe remember that we added some padding and I don’t really like the idea of “free” padding which can move – therefore lets do some finishing to restrict this freedom 😉 Ok, I admit it, this are just some extra stitches to get rid of the last thread I have on the needle and to keep the padding in place. As you can see on the picture above, I just continue with sewing.

Craft with Racaire – Project #1 – Step 3 – basic assembling of the needle-roll

    2014/02/27

Welcome to step 3.1 of my first project for “Craft with Racaire” – this time we assemble the needle-roll. In my opinion needle-rolls are a perfect little gift for everyone who uses needles in one way or another. Years ago I got my very first needle roll from my dear friend Gunnhild from Hamburg. It already shows several signs of usage because I took it with me wherever I travelled. To Germany, Finland, England, Sweden and even to the USA. This lovely small needle roll still contains all my sewing and embroidery needles and reminds me of my friend and the events we both went to…

    Sneak Peak – Craft with Racaire – Needle-roll #1

    2014/02/26

Great news! I just finished my Craft with Racaire – Project #1 – needle-roll #1. …and I took more than plenty pictures for some nice tutorials for you. Pictures like the ones of how I assembled the needle-roll and how I made this small tassels. They are just waiting for me to turn them into some nice tutorials for you. 🙂 My project #2 is also already finished – my gaming pouch for my 14th century backgammon game box – I just need to take some pictures of the finished pouch for you as soon as I find some time for it.

    Craft with Racaire – Needle-roll #1 & German Brick Stitch Pattern #2

    2014/02/22

Embroidery comes rather naturally to me but I learned during my last 9 years of blogging, holding classes at SCA events and explaining techniques to friends that unfortunately not everyone is also as fortunate. In the past this was just one more reason for me to make tutorials and to share my knowledge and my technique “insights” on my blog. As long as I can handle a camera, a tablet and a computer I won’t stop doing it, I promise. Nevertheless, as some people could tell you who already met me in real life, I just love “talking” about my craft & hobby. Posting on my blog is just another…

    Craft with Racaire – Needle-roll #1

    2014/02/19

Before I “restarted” my new blog, I told a friend of mine that I have many possible projects I could start with for my new section “Craft with Racaire”. I told her that I could start with a German Brick Stitch needle-roll, a Klosterstich needle-book, a 12th century fillet, a Reliquary box with bead embroidery based on a rather rare 13th century Pearl Ciborium or based on a period extant piece, another pull-over dress/underdress with revisiting my last recent pattern, a tight fitted bliaut, a linen veil with a period bird pattern, the “We have Dragons” project, a pouch, a hood with daggings,… – just to name a few possibilities.…

  • An all around wonderful experience! I ordered a custom printed scarf with specific colors, material and design and she knocked it out of the park. Great communication, customer service and delivered it on time as estimated. I Will be buying more from Racaire’s Workshop!

positive review  I commissioned a hand carved stamp for my husband's knighting ceremony clothes. Not only is it gorgeous, but I was given SO MUCH information on sources and instructional information on block printing. I now feel relatively confident I can do this. Perfection.

  • I received my most recent order today and I just had to come on here to say that getting an order from this shop is second to none - it’s like Christmas every time. Racaire puts a ton of extra care into every order - each item is wrapped like a present, carefully folded, tied with ribbon, and includes care instructions. Getting to unwrap each item is such a joy. Beyond that, the work is spectacular, looks good, and wears well. You can wash and rewash and the prints look as good or better than they did on day one. I would give Racaire 10/10 stars every time.
