My new “Meridian Cross Cyclas” – a Manesse inspired 14th century cyclas / sideless surcote .1 – the appliqué embroidery

    2015/11/20

Yeah, it’s true and no typo – I made a 14th century cylas / sideless surcote for me! Or how I call the newest addition to my wardrobe: my 14th century “Meridian Cross Cyclas”! 😀 How come? Well, while I was living in the kingdom of Drachenwald – the SCA group covering Europe, the middle East and South Africa – I wasn’t able to make it to many SCA events. Not that I didn’t want to but quite many of the events were out of my budget due to the required travel to the location in a rather far away country like Sweden, Finland, UK,… Therefore my normal event count per year was about 1 to maximal…

My 12th century white silk underdress .3 – revisited – more about my decorated silk buttons

    2015/11/15

And after the last two postings about my 12th century white silk underdress, there is actually just one last major work step of this project left which I haven’t shown you yet. Yes, you are right, it is time to take a closer look at how I created the decorated silk buttons for the Trapunto style keyhole neckline of my 12th century white silk underdress. 🙂

My 12th century white silk underdress .2 – revisited – Trapunto for the win :)

    2015/11/09

And now it’s definitely time for the second part of my posting about my “12th century white silk underdress project” revisited. Today I am going to show you more progress pictures of my “12th century white silk underdress” with a focus on some of my details for this project like the keyhole neckline, the Trapunto work at the keyhole neckline and my Trapunto sleeve cuffs.

My 12th century white silk underdress .1 – revisited :)

    2015/11/04

Today I am going to revisit an “old” project of mine – my beloved 12th century white silk underdress. And yes, before you ask, it is the underdress with the Trapunto neckline, the hand made, decorated silk buttons,… 😀 How come? Well, while I was working at the 14th century hood project for my friends Pelican elevation, I was asked if I could revisit my 12th century white silk underdress. And as I always love to talk about embroidery in general and in particular about my projects, I immediately and happily agreed to revisit this project. But first there was another task I had to take care of – I had to finish posting about…

    2015/10/29

And after all my recent postings about the progress of my friends 14th century hood with pelican & knighthood embroidery, I can finally present to you the finished 14th century hood! The picture at the left was taken shortly after my friend – Sir Thomas Blackmoore (sorry but I don’t remember all the other proper SCA titles he has) –  was elevated to the Order of the Pelican.

White 14th century XL hood for a friends Pelican elevation – embroidery .2 – appliqué border embellishment – a proper finish for my surface couching embroidery

    2015/09/30

Now, that I finally caught up with most of my housework and am able to enjoy a rather clean home again, I am back at my computer again and ready to also catch up with the most recent progress of the 14th century XL hood project for my friends Pelican elevation. Therefore I checked my last posting about the embroidery for the hood as well as the pictures on my tablet and found some photos concerning the surface couching embroidery for the appliqué border embellishment I haven’t posted yet.

White 14th century XL hood for a friends Pelican elevation – working at the embroidery .1 – first appliqué work finished

    2015/08/24

Just some days ago I showed you a picture of my current 14th century XL hood project and the finished appliqué work on the right side of the hood. But my hands were not idle over the weekend. Over the last days I continued my busy work at the 14th century XL hood project. And as I put the past days to very good use, I am very glad to say that all the hard work finally paid off! Yes, I achieved even more good progress and was even able to finish the appliqué work on the left side too.

White 14th century XL hood for a friends Pelican elevation – working at the embroidery – appliqué work part .1

    2015/08/17

It seems like time flies at the moment. The due date for the white 14th century XL hood project for a friend of mine moves closer and closer. But there is no cause for worry yet. I did put the last days to very good use and was therefore able to achieve a lot of progress. 🙂 After completing the work at the main pattern framework of my 14th century pattern project worked in Surface Couching, I immediately continued with the work at the white 14th century XL hood for my friends Pelican elevation.

My new project – a white 14th century XL hood for a friends Pelican elevation – the hand-sewing is finally finished! :D

    2015/07/29

After all the successful previous preparation for this project (like drafting an XL pattern and creating a 14th century XL hood sample), I finally started working at the actual project some days ago: A white 14th century XL hood for my friends Pelican elevation. 🙂 But first a short explanation for all readers who are not familiar with the SCA: Whenever a member of the SCA shows great passion in “service” to the society, excels in the “arts & sciences” (like woodwork, embroidery, teaching about his/her craft,…) or shows great skill in fighting (“Heavy Fighting”, fencing,…) and some people who observe this commitment report it to The Royal Majesties of their kingdom (normally…

My 14th century XL hood sample – the finished hood sample & some information about my hood pattern…

    2015/07/15

Do you remember the 14th century XL hood pattern about which I told you recently? Well, then I have some great news for you! I managed to finish the hand-sewing part of my 14th century XL hood before “A Midsummer Day’s Brawl” – an SCA event in Tennessee last weekend and I took my finished XL sample hood with me to the event for a fitting. Though my friend – for whom I drafted this pattern – and I were quite busy at the event, we managed to find some time where he was able to try on the 14th century XL sample hood and guess what! …it fits fine! *happydance*

positive review  Racaire's Workshop made me this custom X-Large Coif as seen at https://www.facebook.com/Racaires.Workshop/photos/a.148957655152826/2884613781587186/?type=3&theater The customer service including answering a ton of questions related to my'big head' and other unusual/unique requests that I made were absolutely SUPERB!!!! The only thing that surpassed my experience in ordering this coif was the pleasure I have received from wrapping it around my rather 'big head'....:) Looking forward to having the rest of my WARdrobe completed by Racaire's Worlshop!!! with Anna E. Dockery Experience was a 12 out of possible 10....... Boo McAfee

As some of you know I love re- & upcycling. Today I decided to give some of my propagated pothos plants a new home in hanging pots made from coffee creamer bottles. They are relatively easy to cut and, as you can see in the pictures, the outside shows their watering status very well which makes it easy to care for the plants.I love the little plant wall I started in the sleeping room, it has quite a calming vibe. Furthermore pothos is known to help with air quality, easy to keep alive and is a great plant for a sleeping room.I hope I could inspire some of you to recycle your common plastic containers and maybe add some more green to your home....and now back to working on my seahorse sketch...Love,Racaire💚💚💚🌹💚💚💚#racaire #recycle #upcyled #upcycled #upcycle #pothos #plants #plantsmakepeoplehappy® #plantsmakemehappy #plantsforthebedroom #bedroom #indoorplant #wallplants ...
